Despite mixed reviews, GODZILLA’s box office beat expectations midnight screenings brought in an estimate $9.3 million, while Friday numbers reached a high of $36. This could result in a total box office of over $90 million for the weekend.

Disney Returns STAR WARS License to Marvel!

Marvel previously held the license from 1977 t0 1991. This deal will be effective as of 2015.

Golden Globe Nominations Gives Genre Productions Mixed Messages

“Gravity” was nominated in four categories for Best Motion Picture -DRAMA, Best Director (Alfonso Cuaron), Best Actress – DRAMA (Sandra Bullock) and Best Score for a Motion Picture. While “Her” received three nods, Best Motion Picture – COMEDY OR MUSICAL, Best Actor – COMEDY OR MUSICAL (Joaquin Phoenix), and Best Screenplay.
However, genre television did not fare as well. No genre shows were nominated in any of the major categories. “American Horror Story” received two nominations for Best Television Movie or Miniseries, and Best Actress in a Television Movie or Miniseries.
