Is John McLoughlin still something of an active figure in Oregon City? Does the fabled crash of the Portland steamboat into Willamette Falls repeat itself in the darkest hours of the night? Does Sarah Chase still protest the city’s municipal elevator, causing people to turn away at the last minute and take the steps downtown?

One resident has had enough experiences to think it’s at least a possibility.

“You asked why Oregon City has so many instances of ghosts and spirits – I think part of it is graves were moved and houses were moved … So that’s caused some uneasiness in the neighborhood.”

Will Obama Reveal “the Truth” About UFOs?

Whitley Strieber, author of Communion, isn’t sure, but thinks Obama has chosen someone to work on the transition who might.  In a recent journal entry on his website, Strieber has this to say:

When the subject of UFOs was brought up with Barack Obama during the campaign, he simply laughed for a brief moment and moved on. McCain, by contrast, said that NASA was keeping secrets that he would make them reveal. However, John Podesta is the head of the president-elect’s transition team, and he has taken an interest in UFO disclosure, so it would seem that there is at least some chance that change is in the offing in this area, too. Podesta has said, “It is time for the government to declassify records that are more than 25 years old and to provide scientists with data that will assist in determining the real nature of this phenomenon.”

Even the New York Times mentioned this in a recent article on Podesta:

[Podesta is also known for his] obsession about U.F.O.’s and devotion to “The X-Files.” If anyone knows the truth about Roswell, N.M., it’s Mr. Podesta. He is said to be the only White House chief of staff ever to appear on the Sci Fi Channel.

C’mon a White House official who’s appeared on the Sci Fi Channel.  That’s just cool!
