TRAILERS FROM HELL Launches a Blog!

Posted in Audio, Books, Movies, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror, Television with tags , , , , , , , on May 25, 2011 by ghostradioworld

Trailers From Hell is quite simply one of the best movie sites on the Internet.  Their remit is simple:  Post trailers.  Have cool film people (e.g. Joe Dante, Rick Baker, Edgar Wright, Guillermo del Toro, Larry Cohen, Roger Corman, and many, many more) comment on those trailers.  Lather.  Rinse.  Repeat.

But for many of us TFH fans that simply wasn’t enough. And the dudes at TFH must have sensed this.  Because they have now launched a blog.  They’re calling it:  FROM HELL IT CAME!  Here’s their rational for its creation:

… our endemic TFH commentaries are necessarily limited to the lengths of the individual trailers, and sometimes there’s more to be said. Moreover, there are lots of things on our minds that don’t lend themselves specifically to trailer commentaries, many of which have been recorded long before they actually appear on our site.  So we thought we might give this a shot and see how it goes.

Count us in!  And if you wanna join in on the fun all you have to do is click here.

Joe Dante Discusses His New Horror Film!

Posted in Movies, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror with tags , , , , , , , , , on March 2, 2011 by ghostradioworld

In an interview with Fangoria, Joe Dante offers the plot rundown of his upcoming film Monster Love:

It’s essentially “Romero and Juliet” … You have a group of werewolves who are running wild in Paris, equal parts skater boys and soccer hooligans. The leader of the pack is Pete, the hero, and he encounters Maggie, this modern age tomgirl dressing in black boots and a leather jacket who also happens to be a vampire. They have an encounter in the park one night and fall in love. Maggie is from an older, European, more upper-class group of vampires who don’t approve, and the other werewolves don’t approve, so our heroes have to go through a lot of machinations to try to stay together.

Sounds Underworld + Twilight + Dante Wackiness = Bucket of Win!

Video: International Trailer for Joe Dante’s THE HOLE

We love Joe Dante’s movies.  So we can’t get enough of the promotional material for his first film in seven years … The Hole.   Like the cool Italian one sheet above.

This looks like classic Dante territory.  And we bet Dante, the connoisseur of fifties genre pix, understands the proper use of 3D better than anyone working today.  With all that in mind, check out the new international trailer:

According to Variety, the eighties Joe Dante werewolf flick The Howling is the latest horror film to get the remake treatment.   The remake will be titled “The Howling: Reborn” and will produced by Joel Kastelberg and Etchie Stroh, and former New Line studio exec will Joe Nimziki will helm the project from his own script.  This will mark Nimziki’s debut as a director.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in February for a planned Halloween release.

This all sounds decidedly low rent.

This looks like a lot of fun.  It could bring Dante back to the mainstream.

The story involves some some teenagers who find a hatch leading to a bottomless hole in the basement of their new home; they open it which unleashes a force of evil that brings their nightmares to life.

And it’s in 3D!
