We about a year and a half from the theatrical release of The Hobbit.  But that’s not too soon to get a bit of a peek into the production with these three exclusives from Entertainment Weekly.  We get our first look at Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins (above).  And quite a Bilbo he makes too.  Here’s what P.J. has to say about him:

He fits the ears, and he’s got some very nice feet … I think he’s got the biggest hobbit feet we’ve had so far. They’re a little bit hard to walk in, but he’s managed to figure out the perfect hobbit gait.

And speaking of feats, Ian McKellan is  doing one of the hardest feats in the movie business: Playing younger.  See how he fares after the jump.

Lindelof Not Up for Geek Fight!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on April 6, 2011 by ghostradioworld

George R. R. Martin vs. Damon Lindelof.  It looked to be one of the best geek fights in online history.  It had it all.   Sci-fi vs. fantasy.  TV vs. literature.  Young vs. old.  Twitter vs. The New Yorker.  In short, a big crateful of awesome.

It all began when fantasy author George R. R. Martin told The New Yorker that he was taking his time with end of his book series (A Song of Ice and Fire), because he didn’t want it to have a conclusion like “Lost”.

I felt so cheated when we got to the conclusion [of ‘Lost’] … I want to give [my readers] something terrific … if I do a ‘Lost’? Then they’ll come after me with pitchforks and torches.

Hear the rest of this thrilling story after the jump …

Is NBC Desperate?

Posted in Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror, Television with tags , , , , , on October 24, 2010 by ghostradioworld

Or have they just lost their collective minds?  Despite the cancel worthy ratings of “Chuck” and new shows “Chase”, and “Undercovers”, the network has given them all additional orders.  “Chuck” and “Chase” have gotten full series orders, and “Undercovers” has gotten an additional script order.

Some have suggested this is based on a dislike of their mid-season replacement shows.  Or, with the change of management, they simply don’t want to justify any shows currently in development chosen by the previous programming team.  Or, maybe, it is just the desperation or madness suggested above.  But, however you slice it, it’s an odd move.

Thoughts?
