This year continues to be a big one for “mysterious cat” sightings.  The latest occurred in Golborne, a borough of Greater Manchester in the UK.  And this time in addition to sightings mutilated swans were found.  From the police’s official statement:

On Friday, February 11, police were called to Golborne Road, Wigan, following reports two lambs had been found dead.

At just after 10am on Sunday, February 13, police were called to the Three Sisters Recreation area following reports three swans had been found dead.

Officers from the Ashton-in-Makerfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, the Hindley Neighbourhood Policing Team and the division’s wildlife crime officer are supporting inquiries being made by the Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust Ranger Service.

Although the local officials believe it may be a fox or other local animal.  Many in the area believe it to be one of the mysterious black cats rumored to roam the UK.

“Skunk Ape” Sightings!

The Valdosta Times recently shared with their readers some eyewitness reports of “The Skunk Ape”.   A hairy humanoid creature which reportedly gives off a powerful smell.   It is similar to bigfoot, but smaller, and sightings of the creature mostly occur in the Southeastern United States.

The first story comes from a woman identified only as  “Joy”:

Outside of Ray City, she had her car’s bright lights on and she saw something hairy, walking away from the road, into the woods.

“I saw the back of something,” Joy says. “It was tall. … I thought it was a bear but a bear don’t walk on its back legs. … Honestly, it looked like an ape.”

Joy said her husband’s about six feet tall and she gauged what she saw to be about the same height as her husband. She didn’t smell anything driving by the creature.

The other report came from a Brooks County man who had the following bizarre sighting while sitting on his back porch:

He first thought it a deer but saw that it had no hind quarters. He then thought it “an idiot in a ghillie suit,” a type of camouflage clothing covered in loose strips of cloth or twine designed to look like foliage.

But even then he thought something wasn’t right.

He went inside his house and got a pair of binoculars. He saw a hairy humanoid, with the hair being red, fading to brown and grey. The creature was lean and at least over six-feet tall. The creature was probably about 500 yards away, too far away to smell, he said.

He watched the creature for about eight minutes through the binoculars. During that time, the creature leaned on one arm against a tree, looking around. It scratched its left calf with its right foot. Then it ran away.

Mummified Chupacabra Stolen!

Posted in Cryptozoology, Weird News with tags , , , , on April 23, 2010 by ghostradioworld

According to KENS 5 TV, a “mummified chupacabra” was stolen from a booth at the “Feista Fantasias”.

Fiesta Fantasias is a concert even held at Market Square in San Antonio, Texas.   In addition to live acts, the event also features various booths.  And one of them  allowed attendees to view a  “mumified chupacabra” for  a buck a look.

The booth is run by Brian Stevens and David Walker who claim they’ve owned the chupacabra for two years, and it’s the only one in the United States.   They say they purchased the specimen in Ensenada, Mexico from individuals who have two other specimens.

Stevens and Walker reported the theft to the police, and have contacted the owners of the other two specimens to borrow one for the remainder of the Fiesta.  They are offering a reward for the return of the specimen, and urge anyone with any knowledge of its whereabouts to contact San Antonio Police Department.

Hmm … maybe it wasn’t stolen.  Maybe it just got up and walked away.

Large Cat Spotted in Cinicinnati Area

Posted in Cryptozoology, Weird News with tags , , , on March 30, 2010 by ghostradioworld

On Thursday, 26, 2010 officials received reports of a large white cat roaming in the Avondale area.  Fire Fighters searched several places within the Phoenix Learning Center where the animal had been spotted, but found no evidence of such a creature.

It’s unclear at this time where these sightings were of an actual cat, possibly owned by a local resident; or if this fits into the mysterious large cat sightings — a relatively new phenomena in the cryptozoological community.  Although the cats spotted in those reports are usually black.

Prehistoric Fish in the Ganges!

Fisherman in Calcutta, India claim that the creature they pulled from the Ganges (pictured above) is a Coelacanth.  The Coelacanth is a very old fish.  They first appear in the fossil record in the middle of the Devonian Era, more than 350 million years ago.  And until the 2oth Century most scientists believed that they had gone extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period,  roughly 65 million years ago.

However, in 1938, the species was discovered in waters off the coast of South Africa.  They’ve subsequently been found in many eras off the east coast of Africa.  However, if this is indeed a Coelacanth, its discovery in the Ganges would mark a whole new range for the species.

Paleontologists are rushing to the area to determine if this is indeed a Coelacanth.  Though some observers are already skeptical, claiming it resembles other local fish such as the Orange-Spotted Grouper.

Bigfoot Hoax!

From the Connecticut Post:

FAIRFIELD — It goes by many names: Bigfoot, Sasquatch — the legendary half-human, half-ape creature that, according to legend, prowls the great northern woods of the U.S. and Canada.

Some insist, however, that the hairy beast is real. Sasquatch “sightings” have primarily been reported in the Northwest.

Until now, that is.

A woman driving on Unquowa Road about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday called police to report that she “almost hit Sasquatch,” which was standing in the middle of the road. She said it was 8 feet tall and very hairy, with a large body and “legs like tree trunks.” When she switched her headlights to highbeams, she said, the creature covered its face and ran into the woods.

The driver told police it was “human like,” but more “like an animal.”

Unlike other Sasquatch sightings, where the elusive beast melts back into the deep woods, this one was located in Fairfield.

Bigfoot turned out to be a big joke — a 16-year-old dressed in a gorillalike costume, police said. The teen told officers he was standing at the intersection of Unquowa and Sturges roads, waving at passing cars while friends watched.

A police officer escorted the sham Sasquatch back home and turned him over to his parents, who, the police report states, agreed he should have shown better judgment.

Video: New Lake Monster Footage!

Posted in Cryptozoology with tags , , , , on June 9, 2009 by ghostradioworld

This footage surfaced on Youtube on May 31, 2009.  It is reportedly footage of Lake Champlain monster sometimes referred to as “champy.”

This is stabilized version of the footage so you can have a clearer look at the anomaly.

We think it’s just a floating log.  But watch it and judge for yourself.  It’s always fun to look at footage like this even if it amounts to nothing.
