Dracula Just a Victim of Bad Spin!

A new museum show, opening in Bucharest this week, is attempting to rehabilitate the image of Vlad Tepes, also known as “Vlad the Impaler”, and considered one of the primary inspirations for the fictional character Dracula.  Museum curator Margot Faunch says Tepes was a “victim of bad propaganda” which “was aimed at presenting eastern Europe as a primitive land and a source of evil”.

Howevever, Rauch goes on to say, “Vlad Dracula was doubtlessly cruel, but not more so than other princes of his time”.   Just as cruel as everyone else … not sure that’s the tag line Tepes fans would choose.   But, as they say, impalers can’t be choosers.
