Gamers Can Control Their Dreams!

Posted in Games, Psychic Phenomena, Weird News, Weird Science with tags , , , , , on May 27, 2010 by ghostradioworld

A several studies have found that playing video games prior to sleep increases your awareness and control of your dreams.  One of these studies reported:

that people who frequently played video games were more likely to report lucid dreams, observer dreams where they viewed themselves from outside their bodies, and dream control that allowed people to actively influence or change their dream worlds – qualities suggestive of watching or controlling the action of a video-game character.

While another study discovered some interesting correlation between gaming and lucid dreaming:

It found that lucid dreams were common, but that the gamers never had dream control over anything beyond their dream selves.

The gamers also frequently flipped between a first person view from within the body and a third person view of themselves from outside, except never with the calm detachment of a distant witness.

A third study found that gamers reacted the threat simulation in nightmares differently from non-gamers:

gamers experienced less or even reversed threat simulation (in which the dreamer became the threatening presence), with fewer aggression dreams overall.

In other words, a scary nightmare scenario turned into something “fun” for a gamer.

Hmmm … these findings give a whole new series of reasons for playing games.  And scientists have even begun looking at gaming as tool for dealing with people who suffer from frequent and severe nightmares.

“Lost” Mystery Solved: Credit Images Not Part of Final Story

The ending of “Lost” on Sunday left many puzzled as they sought to find the true meaning of the story.  But, for many Lost fans, one thing clouded that interpretation:  A series of images of the crashed wreckage of Flight 815, the plane which originally brought the series characters to the island, shown over the closing credits.  These photos showed the wreckage, some bodies, but no apparent survivors.  Some fans took this to mean that all the characters had died on impact.  And the entire series had played out in some type of afterlife.

But today the Los Angeles Times reported on a statement from ABC clarifying these images.  The statement, which the paper received from an ABC spokesman via email on Tuesday,  reads:

The images shown during the end credits of the ‘Lost’ finale, which included shots of Oceanic 815 on a deserted beach, were not part of the final story but were a visual aid to allow the viewer to decompress before heading into the news.

So that ends that part of the mystery.  Now fans need only look at the finale and the previous six years of episodes in their quest for answers.

Megan Fox Says “Bye, Bye” to TRANSFORMERS 3!

Megan Fox and director Michael Bay have been at odds before.  But now their problems have led to Megan Fox leaving Transformers 3.  She has claimed this was due to Bay being “verbally abusive”.   However, other sources suggest that Bay didn’t feel Fox met his standards of beauty.

Will Transformers fans miss her?  The five-year-olds won’t.  But the rest of the audience … okay, let’s be honest, there is no “rest of the audience”.

Industry gossip currently suggest Quantum of Solace Bond girl Gemma Arterton has the inside track for the role.  Don’t remember her?  Check out the provocative shot below:

The peoples reaction sounds like this might have been some type of special “show”.  But UFO, man made, or CGI jiggery pokery, its uniqueness made us have to share it.

John Williams Finishes TINTIN Score!

Posted in Comics, Movies, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror with tags , , , on May 22, 2010 by ghostradioworld

There’s been very  little news about Spielberg’s mocap cgi adaptation of  Franco-Belgian comic classic The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn.  But buried in a recent feature on John Williams in The Boston Globe, this little bomb was dropped:

Williams has just completed a chamber music piece for the La Jolla Music Society’s SummerFest in California and the score for “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn,’’ a Steven Spielberg movie due out next year.

We admit this isn’t much.  But it’s Tintin movie news.  Which, right now, is as rare as gold.
