The Daily Star is reporting that Joanna Page, star of the sitcom “Gavin and Stacey”, will soon appear in “Doctor Who” as a “long lost relative” of the Doctor.  It’s being reported that her first appearance will be in a two part story, but it could develop into a regular role.

Fans are already buzzing about who this “long lost relative” is.  Early candidates include “Susan Foreman” and “Jenny”.  The only relatives of the Doctor the series has ever featured.  But others think she will be an entirely new character who we’ve never heard of before.

Spielberg and Dinosaurs Hit the Small Screen!

Nope, it’s not a “Jurassic Park”  TV series.  But it might be the next best thing.  “Terra Nova”, announced at Fox’s upfronts, is a new TV series about a family from a 100 years in the future who travel back to the age of dinosaurs in order to save the human race.  Spielberg is producing the show with Brannon Braga (“24”, “Star Trek: Voyager”,) and David Fury (“24”, “Lost”).  The show is schedule to air as part of the midseason line-up.  The pilot has yet to be shot.

Although Steven Spielberg has been one of the most successful directors and producers in movie history, his forays in network TV have been far less successful.  Will “Terra Nova” break the Spielberg TV jinx?  By stacking the deck with dinos, he’s certainly hedging his bets.  But some of his past attempts looked surefire too.  We give this show an even money chance.  But that doesn’t mean we aren’t looking forward to it.  Trust us, we are!

Video: NBC Announces New Fall Season, “Heroes” Axed

Yup,  “Heroes” is gone.  But NBC has a few shows lined up for fall which might strike your fancy.

First up a new superhero show to appease bereaved “Heroes” devotees called “The Cape.”

Then there’s “The Event” a conspiracy thriller. We know you love conspiracies.  And this one looks like a combination of “24” and “Lost”!  Getting excited yet? We are.

Finally, there’s the new spy thriller from J.J. Abrams called “Undercovers”.  J.J. and spies?  How can you not be excited about that?

Sure, all these shows might suck.  But, you gotta admit, it looks like last place NBC is swinging for the fences with this line up.  And we’ll be tuning in hoping for doubles, triples, and maybe even a home run.  And with these three batters we see NBC as having a real chance to score.

And now that we’ve tortured that sports metaphor to within an inch of  its life, watch the trailers below:
