Will the Obama’s New Dog Face a Ghost Cat?

A dog’s life in the White House is pretty grand.  And I’m sure it will be so for the Obama family’s new puppy.  But a fly in the ointment might be the ghostly black cat (referred to as the “Demon Cat” or “D.C.” for short) which reportedly haunts the White House:

Encounters with the black phantom feline have been reported for years by those who guard the halls at night. Demon Cat appears only at night and only when the person who sights it is alone. At times, the experience was only the sighting of the cat. Other times, the experience was scary.

One guard who saw it wants to remain anonymous. It happened on a January night in the 1970s. As he was walking through a passage way, he saw the black cat approach. The phantom appeared to get larger as it walked toward him. Its eyes had a reddish glow. The guard was afraid to move. Finally, the phantom reached the size of a tiger and its meowings changed to roars. It crouched and sprang and all the guard could do was to pray and close his eyes. Nothing happened. When the guard opened his eyes, the cat had vanished.

Hmmm … wonder if Obama’s new puppy will be up for that?

  1. Isn’t Abraham Lincoln also said to haunt the White House Lincoln Bedroom? I wonder if he and the cat hang out.

  2. That’s what they say. Truman once responded to a knock at his door at 3:00 am. No one was there. He assumed the knock came from Lincoln’s ghost.

  3. […] Also look at our story on another White House ghost here. […]
