Inspiring a bit of double take from time travel fans, Matt Smith and Karen Gillan arrived at a “Doctor Who” screening on Saturday in New York City in a vintage DeLorean.  The DeLorean (DeLorean DMC-12), was the sole car produced by John DeLorean’s DeLorean Motor Company, and it was made famous to movie fans when it was used as the time machine in the Back to the Future films.

From May 5, 1948 comes another episode of the fantastic CBS radio series “Escape”.  This one an adaptation of H. G. Wells “The Time Machine”.

It’s not an especially faithful adaptation.  But, then again, neither was the George Pal movie.  It’s a fine adaptation nonetheless.  Full of excitement, adventure and a bit of Wells thoughtful complexity.   And it features the usual fine production values that are a hallmark of CBS radio productions.   “Escape” would do another version of this script in 1950.  We will present that version tomorrow.

Spielberg’s latest foray into TV has many geeks excited.  It’s Sci-Fi.  It’s time travel.  It may even feature dinosaurs!  And, frankly, we fall into the geek camp on this one.  Spielberg’s track record on TV hasn’t been great, but, still, we have to admit this one has us excited as well.  And these first pix from the series have increased that.

And you know what makes us even a bit sadder about this whole thing?  We spent more than a few minutes studying these photos.  Okay, it wasn’t just more than a few minutes, it was closer to an hour.  We said we were sad.

Summit Entertainment (Twilight Saga) announced that they will be producing the adaptation of Julie Cross’ upcoming novel Tempest.  Here’s how Ms. Cross describes the plot:

[It's] about a 19-year-old time traveler who witnesses his girlfriend’s murder and inadvertently jumps back two years; stuck there, he’s recruited by a shadowy government agency run by the man he thought was his father and vows to save his girlfriend no matter the cost.

For more information on novel visit Ms. Cross’ blog here.  We checked Twitter.  She doesn’t appear to be there yet.  What’s up with that, Julie?

Edit: It seems Julie Cross is on Twitter.  You can follow her here.  And we have Julie herself to thank for that info.
