THE EVENT Gets Lowest Ratings Yet!

Posted in Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror, Television with tags , , , , , , , , , on May 10, 2011 by ghostradioworld

It doesn’t look like “The Event” will be going out on a high note.  This week’s episode scored an all-time low for the series, racking up a rating of 1.1 with the 18-49 demo.  We’re only two episodes away from  the season (and probably the series) finale.  So it’s unlikely that things will look much rosier in the future.  On the plus side, the series itself has been hugely exciting.  On a healthier network this might have been a hit.  On NBC … need we say more?

Ratings for THE EVENT Drop a Shade!

As “The Event” inches today likely cancellation the Monday airing dropped a tenth of a point to a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demo.  Although it won’t help “The Event” this low consistency is something future programmers need to look at.  Further analysis of the demo is also needed.

“The Event” Ratings Continue to Slide!

Last night’s ratings for “The Event” were 2.2 (18-49) which represents an 8% drop from the previous week.   This still isn’t low enough for cancellation talks, but unless these ratings stabilize expect such talk in two weeks.  Pity.  The show’s getting quite interesting.

“Lost” Producer Digs “The Event”, But Ratings Fall

Lost” writer/producer Damon Lindelof offer this positive statement about the new NBC series “The Event” on Twitter.  Of course, it also contains some of Damon’s trademark humor:

I think THE EVENT is swell, but if 24 and LOST really had a baby it would hate both its parents and regularly engage in torture.

Heh.  We actually think such good-natured comments could actually help the series.  However, the second episode saw a drop in viewership, with a 2.9/7 ratings/share, and estimated viewership of 8.9 million.

The second episodes also firmly placed “The Event” in science fiction genre with the reveal of extraterrestrial disclosure as a key to the series plot.

“The Event” Ratings Winner, Twitter Loser!

Posted in Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror, Television with tags , , , , , , , , on September 21, 2010 by ghostradioworld
NBC’s new drama “The Event” scored well in the ratings for  its debut.  It landed a 3.9 rating with a 9 share, with a 11.9 million viewers.  This was not quite what some may have hoped.  Still very good for a third place finish.  But Twitter seemed less impressed:

IamRobSimms said:

The Event‘ sucked … I want Flashforward back. Please

KrazviIIan quipped:

I watched the last half of the Event, it was uneventful.

MattTerry expressed his disapproval with an accent:

*nerd voice*Well, The Event is no Lost, that’s for sure! Who do they think they are?*nerd voice*

While Oh_Em_Rachelle wasn’t keen on the music editing:

Dear The Event, you don’t need dramatic music to clue me in. I’ve seen Lost and Fringe. I get it.

Will “The Event” Be an Event?

Posted in Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror, Television with tags , , , , , , , , , on September 18, 2010 by ghostradioworld

From one of the creators of “24″ comes “The Event”, the latest in a line of unsuccessful attempts to create a new “Lost”.   And reviews point to the same problems with earlier attempts.  The Hollywood Reporter puts it this way:

unless they reward viewer trust with a few satisfying answers — and soon — “Event” will see a sharp decline in RSVPs.

HitFix offers similar, though more pointed, criticism:

["The Event"] doesn’t offer up anything of interest beyond scene after scene that invites the viewer to wonder what the hell is going on and when someone is going to step in to explain it.

However, TV Overmind, offers more positive words, claiming:

["The Event"] contains three essential qualities that I require in a show for both a time and an emotional commitment: cast, chemistry and compelling creative.

And adds:

Trust me when I tell you that you do not want to miss the debut of this series next week. It is a riveting hour of high quality television, and stands tall among the crop of average new shows premiering throughout the month.

Viewers will be able to judge for themselves soon.  The series premieres this Monday (9/20/10) at 9:00 PM on NBC.

Video: NBC Announces New Fall Season, “Heroes” Axed

Yup,  “Heroes” is gone.  But NBC has a few shows lined up for fall which might strike your fancy.

First up a new superhero show to appease bereaved “Heroes” devotees called “The Cape.”

Then there’s “The Event” a conspiracy thriller. We know you love conspiracies.  And this one looks like a combination of “24″ and “Lost”!  Getting excited yet? We are.

Finally, there’s the new spy thriller from J.J. Abrams called “Undercovers”.  J.J. and spies?  How can you not be excited about that?

Sure, all these shows might suck.  But, you gotta admit, it looks like last place NBC is swinging for the fences with this line up.  And we’ll be tuning in hoping for doubles, triples, and maybe even a home run.  And with these three batters we see NBC as having a real chance to score.

And now that we’ve tortured that sports metaphor to within an inch of  its life, watch the trailers below:
