Imagine Entertainment is about to sign a deal to adapt Stephen King’s Dark Tower novels into a series of feature films. Ron Howard will direct, Akiva Goldsman will pen the script, and Bryan Grazer will co-produce. This is the same team which brought us the screen adaptations of Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons.
This news comes some months after “Lost” alums J. J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cruse bowed out of the project.
Imagine and Universal are hoping that the Dark Tower series will become the studio’s answer to Lord of the Rings.
