A few years ago you couldn’t get arrested pitching a Sherlock Holmes projoect.  But one Downey and a soupcon of Moffat later and that Victorian sleuth has become one of the hotest tickets on screens big and small.  Latest evidence of that can be seen above.  Yup, Sherlock is once again going to Russia with mucho love.  And we are mucho excited.

This BBC One promo features clips from the second series of “Sherlock”.  You will also see clips from the new adaptation of “The Borrowers” and bits from a new installment of the “Walking With …” series.  Not to mention other goodies which we leave you to discover for yourself.

And, yes, the “Sherlock” episode is their version of “The Hound of the Baskervilles”.  And, yes, that’s Russell Tovey being offered “cream tea”.

Noomi Rapace Joins Downey in Holmes Sequel!

Just when we think reading has gone the way of the dodo, another publishing phenom comes along to change our minds.  This summer it’s been Stieg Larsson.  Everywhere we went someone was reading one of his books.  And every cocktail party* we attended has been full of discussions of these books or the movie adaptions.

So it comes as no surprise that the star of these films, Nomi Rapace, has been on the wish list of every H’wood production this summer.  Well, it looks like the sequel to the Guy Ritchie helmed, Robert Downey starring Sherlock Holmes film, is the first to snag her.  Industry mavens say she’ll play a gypsy.

*Okay, we don’t really go to cocktail parties.  But we thought if we said dive bars (or worse yet … chat rooms … yikes!) you’d lose all respect for us.

This looks quite good.  As huge Sherlock Holmes fans we don’t mind Robert Downey’s lack of resemblance to the character.   He’s a great actor.  And that’s what the part really needs.

Recent setbacks have prompted the crew to wonder if a poltergeist is in their midst.

Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes may be able to claim commonalities with The Omen, Rosemary’s Baby and Superman. Reports allege that the set may be cursed.

The rumors started when star Robert Downey, Jr. was knocked out while filming a fight scene with a seven-foot wrestler. A source said, “Robert was accidentally caught on the chin by a thundering hook. He went flying and was out cold.”

He later received six stitches in his mouth from a nurse on set at Chatham dockyard in Kent.

According to the UK paper, the Sun, this was only the beginning of the movie’s filming woes. Yesterday, a loaded petrol tanker burst into flames during a delivery to the set, prompting the shoot to halt for about two hours.

“There have been lots of other problems too,” the source said. “The crew have started joking about the curse of Sherlock Holmes.”
