Panther Spotted in Manchester!

This year continues to be a big one for “mysterious cat” sightings.  The latest occurred in Golborne, a borough of Greater Manchester in the UK.  And this time in addition to sightings mutilated swans were found.  From the police’s official statement:

On Friday, February 11, police were called to Golborne Road, Wigan, following reports two lambs had been found dead.

At just after 10am on Sunday, February 13, police were called to the Three Sisters Recreation area following reports three swans had been found dead.

Officers from the Ashton-in-Makerfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, the Hindley Neighbourhood Policing Team and the division’s wildlife crime officer are supporting inquiries being made by the Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust Ranger Service.

Although the local officials believe it may be a fox or other local animal.  Many in the area believe it to be one of the mysterious black cats rumored to roam the UK.

Photo: Mystery Paw Prints Found in Scotland

The prints above were discovered by Nora Robertson (81) during a morning walk near her home in the Andrew Wood Court section of Edinburgh, Scotland.  Robertson claims:

It was still dark so I had my torch with me, and the light reflected off one of these large prints.  I followed the track all the way to my neighbour’s garden, which showed it had jumped up over a wall.  I’ve never seen anything like this.

Some suggest these might simply be fox tracks.  There are  a lot of foxes in the area.   And snow can increase the size of a track, suggesting it was made by a larger animal.  But many in the area firmly believe this is more evidence of the mysterious big cats that have been sighted across the British Isle with increasing frequency in the last few years.

Mysterious Big Cat Sightings in Derbyshire!

The new year marks the return of one of our favorite cryptids … the mysterious black cats.  In the last week, there have been three sightings of the panther-like creatures in Derbershire, UK.

The most interesting sighting was by a Sheila Noble an 83 year-old pensioner.   She observed the creature in her backyard, and watched it jump an 18 foot fence.   She further went on to say:

It was about 18 inches from the floor to the top of its head and it had the biggest yellow eyes I have ever seen ….

Yellow eyes … spooky …

We have a lot of cats in this area but this was about four times bigger. It was eating the bird food I had left on the floor. We haven’t had many birds around lately and now I know why.

Ms. Noble also observed the creature the following day, stating:

I have seen pictures before of big cats and I thought it must definitely be one. It was lovely to look at with the most beautiful coat … I will be looking out for it now and I will be taking a photograph if I see it again.

In addition to Ms. Noble others who reported on big cats in the area were:  Kim Williams (50) who saw a big cat exiting a hedge and crossing a local street.  And an unnamed man who found a big cat print while walking his dog.
