Romero’s “Martin” Remake on the Way!
Between Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead, George Romero produced some non-zombie flicks. Arguably the most interesting of those was Martin: The story of a young man who believes he’s a vampire, and his attempts to curb his urges for blood. Part horror, part character study, this film has a following among horror fans. Its cult has obviously never reached the giddy heights of Romero’s zombie franchise. But the people who love this film, really love it!
Now this cult classic about to take a stroll down remake row. Sigh, ugh, you may say. But there’s actually some good news on this one. It’s been produced by the Richard P. Rubinstein. Rubinstein not only produced the original Martin, but he was behind the superior remake of Romero’s Dawn of the Dead; and other horror fan favorites, including Pet Semetary, Creepshow and “The Stand”.
