“The Thing” Prequel to Begin Filming in March

Production Weekly posted the following on Twitter:

Universal’s prequel to John Carpenter’s classic thriller The Thing, is due to begin filming March and continue till June in Toronto.

This is one of those projects we’re not overly thrilled about.  Although The Thing present a number of interesting ways to expand the story, a prequel seems the least interesting.  In fact, a straight remake based on the original story “Who Goes There” would strike us as more interesting.

But, who knows, it might surprise us all.

AVATAR Becomes Billion Dollar Film!

Avatar recently passed the $1 billion dollar mark in worldwide box office grosses.  It’s current grosses are $1.025 billion.   This makes it the fourth highest grossing movie of all time internationally, trailing Titanic, Return of the King, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.  As he did with Titanic, James Cameron has quieted the naysayers, and once again proved he has his finger on the pulse of the moving going public.
