Ryu Murakami’s novel Audition, basis for Takashi Miike’s film of the same name, has finally gotten an English language release. It’s being published by W.W. Norton and Co. and will hit bookstores shelves, and online retailers, on June 7th 2010.
Amazon is already whetting our appetite for this novel with the following series of blub from the Guardian:
“The prose in these passages is elegiac and affecting, but it has the sharp, visceral feel of the butcher’s knife or surgeons scalpel a highly compulsive, one-sitting read, and Audition should add to the Renaissance Man’s growing fanbase in the English speaking world.” — Irvine Welsh, Guardian
We’ve liked Murakami’s previous novels, dug the Miike film, so this is sure to jump to the top of our “to read” pile when it rolls out in June.
