Aronofsky Off ROBOCOP Remake?

Well, maybe not yet … but it looks to be heading in that direction.   Or at least that’s what an article at CHUD is suggesting.

It seems MGM wants Robocop as their big tent-pole release for 2011.  But they’re chafing at Darren Aronofsky’s interest in making this a hard R-rated film with a mega-budget.  MGM honchos don’t want a Watchmen style release, i.e. critical plaudits and weak box office.

CHUD thinks that the movie will get its R-rating, but perhaps without Aronofsky on board.  We doubt both and expect to see a non-Aronofsky PG-13 Robocop in 2011, accompanied by the usual geek grumbling.
