From WCSI Local News:
The nativity scene at the Reddington Christian Church got more attention than it bargained for when it set up a spotlight this year. The spot light was supposed to represent the star of Bethlehem.
“Some folks were telling us that it was much like the shepherds would have been when they saw the star of Bethlehem and they came to check it out, but someone took it a step further and called the sheriff’s department,” said Tim Tolbort.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the call, but didn’t tell the church to turn the light off. Tolbort says they got a kick out of hearing that some thought it was a UFO.
“If a person were to be some distance off and to look up they’d see a white spot every second or so as it rotated around,” he said.
Tolbort joked that none of the animals were abducted from the nativity and says they’ll bring the light back next year.
“We really had a lot of comments and a lot of folks came out and saw it because of that,” Tolbort said.
